Innovation Center:
Creating the Businesses of Tomorrow
The Innovation Center is dedicated to creating the next generation of social value across the TATEYAMA KAGAKU GROUP and building the Group’s future revenue base.
We identify shifts in society and markets and envision value the world has yet to see. By bringing that value to society through businesses and services, we continue to create new social value.

Key Features of the Innovation Center
-
Feature #1
Starting with Social Value.
Rather than waiting for society and markets to change, we envision the future ourselves and create new value. Technology is not an end in itself. By addressing social challenges and focusing on customer value, we create the businesses and services the next generation will need.

-
Feature #2
Creating the Future Through an Integrated Approach.
We bring together expertise in marketing, planning, design, and engineering to create new value from multiple perspectives. By harnessing the collective strength of our organization, we bring to life value that no single discipline could realize alone.

-
Feature #3
Expanding Possibilities Through Co-Creation.
Through co-creation with diverse partners—including companies, universities, research institutions, and local communities—we bring together new technologies and ideas to create value that no single company could achieve alone. By connecting knowledge and expertise from within and beyond our organization, we aim to create an environment where new ideas and challenges can take shape.

A solution that turns hard-to-see
inventory levels into clear,
easy-to-understand numbersBackground
Through co-creation with diverse partners—including companies, universities, research institutions, and local communities—we bring together new technologies and ideas to create value that no single company could achieve alone. By connecting knowledge and expertise from within and beyond our organization, we aim to create an environment where new ideas and challenges can take shape.
Challenges Identified
- Scrap volume is estimated based on human intuition and experience
- Discrepancies can easily arise between actual weight and recorded inventory figures
- Normal operations must be suspended to measure inventory
- The work can involve safety risks, and preparing audit documentation adds to the workload
Our Approach
Using AI, 3D sensors, and our proprietary spatial recognition technology, we developed a non-contact system for measuring scrap volume. Inventory levels and changes over time can be viewed by yard and area in a web browser, making it possible to quantify site conditions that were previously difficult to see.

for Cancer Treatment

A solution that turns unseen conditions
during treatment into information
that supports decision-makingBackground
In cancer treatment, it can be difficult to understand what is happening inside the body during treatment, requiring subsequent treatment decisions to be made based on post-treatment results. To tailor treatment to each individual patient, it was therefore necessary to assess conditions inside the body more accurately during treatment.
Challenges Identified
- The condition of tissue during treatment is difficult to assess
- The next treatment parameters must be determined after reviewing the treatment results
- Each patient’s individual condition needs to be assessed more accurately
Our Approach
Using ultrasound, we developed a system that non-invasively visualizes changes in temperature and tissue characteristics. By enabling near-real-time assessment of conditions during treatment, we aim to support clinical decision-making.
