TATEYAMA

Human Rights Policy

1.Basic Policy

To realize our management philosophy — that our mission is to contribute to the development of society, and that all of us work together in a spirit of gratitude and respect — we make respect for human rights our highest priority in every business activity and fulfill our responsibilities in line with internationally recognized human rights standards.

2.Support for International Norms

We support and respect the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and we act in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Where internationally recognized human rights standards differ from or conflict with local law in a region where we operate, we seek ways to honor the international standards to the greatest extent possible.

3.Scope

To realize our management philosophy — that our mission is to contribute to the development of society, and that all of us work together in a spirit of gratitude and respect — we make respect for human rights our highest priority in every business activity and fulfill our responsibilities in line with internationally recognized human rights standards.

4.Human Rights Due Diligence

We identify actual and potential adverse impacts on human rights and take action to address them.

5.Dialogue with Stakeholders

We engage in dialogue and consultation with stakeholders who may be affected by our business activities, and through this we identify actual and potential adverse impacts on human rights and take action to address them.

6.Remedy

Where an adverse human rights impact occurs, we take prompt corrective action through appropriate procedures. We maintain channels for stakeholders and employees to raise grievances, and we receive those concerns in an environment free from retaliation.

7.Priority Areas

We recognize the following as priority issues in particular, and we will continue to take concrete action to address them.

  1. 1.

    Prohibition of Discrimination

We eliminate discrimination of every kind, including discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, or disability, and we provide a workplace in which all employees are treated equally and diversity is respected.

  2. 2.

Elimination of Child Labor and Forced Labor

We work to verify that no child labor or forced labor takes place anywhere in our supply chain, and we take immediate corrective action if any is found.

  3. 3.

Provision of a Safe and Healthy Working Environment

Providing an environment in which employees can work safely and in good health is our highest priority. We pay particular attention to strengthening safety measures for employees on the production floor and in hazardous work, minimizing the risk of accidents and harm to health.

  4. 4.

    Elimination of Harassment

We prevent harassment of every kind in the workplace — sexual harassment and abuse of authority in particular — and build an environment in which employees can work with peace of mind. We provide prompt remedies for anyone affected and apply a strict zero-tolerance policy.
